A wellyboot of animated happenings

this is a work in progress - eventually i will conquer the horse. finding Richard William's online how-to videos and book, "The Animator's Survival Kit" to be of great help.

catch and throw on maya - from loose plan to the real deal. i've definitely gotten a lot better at 3D recently (the last two days) perhaps the intensity of having to get work done for a deadline helped//?

form- let me grasp you! displaying weight and movement on the page is a thing that i've tried to practise above. with the exception of parrot wings i think i'm pleased with the results. character design is something i need to work on - most faces i've drawn in the past look the same. note the killer calfs on "PTHHABLEH". inspiring.

i really don't want to jinx this, but i think i'm getting better.   heads are becoming the right size, bottoms are becoming peachier and colour experimentation is becoming fun. on the left i used blue and white chalk, i love this because it looks so dainty. ignore how squished up the top face is - level with me here - it was an awkward angle.

when i first arrived at the Eden Project, i, like everyone else, started drawing things. my mistake was that i was trying to draw things as i saw them (quite out of character). it took a bit of time for me to realise i could stylise the crazy plants i was seeing, soon the comfort zone was found and in this case the results were pretty funky. (the one on the right is my favourite)
